This is a very interesting google map. It pinpoints where the Recovery Act (stimulus) money went geographically in our locale and also lists the awardees on the left side of the page. Click on a “pin” or on a left-side name and get further information.
This is where you borrowed tax dollars have gone in this area. I say borrowed tax dollars because, of course, the stimulus a very large part of why our deficit is so high.
Are some of these projects worthwhile? Of course. But according to this article, a study by the Government Accounting Office (GAO) calculated that the cost of creating a job under the stimulus plan was $194,000 dollars. Furthermore, these are not permanent jobs, or permanent projects. And to reiterate, the stimulus is borrowed/created money!
Lynn Woolsey voted with the majority of her party (as she does over 94% of the time) for this stimulus bill. She will surely claim that the voters ought to thank her for all these ”pinpoints” on that google map. Sorry, Representative, I think, on balance, the stimulus was a bad mistake on the part of Washington D.C.
Yes, Woolsey must go!
