UPDATE (Aug. 9, 2010): The Press Democrat reported yesterday in its Sunday edition that Rep. Woolsey will also host a forum in Santa Rosa with the same four panelists (see below). The day will be Wednesday, Aug. 11 as well. The time and place will be “10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Finley Community Center, Person Auditorium, 2060 W. College Ave.” This announcement says the forum will focus on both seniors and disabled persons.
Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-Petaluma, will have a senior health care forum in Mill Valley on Wednesday with experts who will talk about health care legislation.Woolsey said it’s a great chance for seniors in Marin to find out what is in the health care reform bill for them.
Panelists include: Dr. Betsy Thompson, a federal medical officer; Julie Bennett, community outreach specialist; Nina Weiler-Harwell, AARP associate state director, and Martha Boyd, Kaiser Permanente’s director of Medicare.
The session will be at 2 p.m. at the Redwoods Senior Center at 40 Camino Alto in Mill Valley. For more information, call 383-2741.
This will be an excellent opportunity for 6th District residents to learn more about Rep. Woolsey’s conception of how a health care system should be run and the scope of decisions that she and her advisors want allocated to government (a great deal!?) and to the private sector (very little!?). It should also be a chance for constituents to engage in dialogue with the congresswoman and the invited forum panelists. I hope many will attend and participate.
