Rep. Woolsey had better speak with her own party leaders before pointing fingers at anyone else when it comes to defense spending. Yesterday, the Obama administration’s proposed federal budget for 2012 asked for MORE defense spending than the Republicans asked for the 2011 Continuing Resolution (CR) defense spending bill. Secretary of Defense Gates even criticized Republicans for that CR, saying the miliary “needed” more than the Republicans were offering. Now, how ironic is that? Looks like Rep. Woolsey has a lot of work to do in her own party regarding those cuts to defense. Maybe — just this once? — she could even act in a bipartisan way and note that — gasp — the Republicans are closer to her position on defense spending cuts than her own Democratic administration. How about it, Congresswoman?
