MAPLight.org provides an indispensable, clear summary of contributors to Lynn Woolsey’s political campaign. First, there a table of the top Top 10 Interests and Top 10 Organizations that funded her from Nov 23, 2008 – Nov 22, 2010, and we can see that public sector unions, the health care industry, the American Federation of Teachers, real estate interest, etc. are prominent on the lists. The descriptor “union” appears five times on each of the Top Ten lists.
Also of interest is the geographic data. The zip codes and the state of those contributing the most appear in charts, and most interestingly, a U.S. map pinpoints the locations and the density of contributions made to her. After this local area, Rep. Woolsey received her second greatest number of contributions from — you guessed it — the District of Columbia. However she also garnered some from states such as Florida, South Carolina, Colorado, and Missouri.
Her total contributions over that two-year period are tallied at $1,261,667, with 57% of that ($727,578) having been generated outside of her/our congressional district.
Quite a mine of information.
