That’s what President Obama said in his weekly address on Saturday — “We need a government that lives within its means….” not, ha ha, “This looks like a good place to stop.” Perhaps he thinks his saying it will “make it so.” But President Obama isn’t Captain Picard of the starship Enterprise, is he? The federal government he heads spent money like never before in February, recording a record monthly deficit of $223 billion. We are now on track for a $1.65 TRILLION deficit this year:
The president says the right words, but so far hasn’t actually steered federal spending the way of his words. Our member of Congress, on the other hand, doesn’t even bother with saying the right things. A government that lives within its means? Lynn Woolsey has never heard of such a thing and doesn’t want it either.
