It’s getting close to tax filing deadline April 15, so Lynn Woolsey has been tweeting helpful hints to us. A few days ago there was this:
And the next day she added this:
Yes, indeed. The federal government is always finding new ways to “assist” us in paying our taxes. Rep. Woolsey wants to be sure we are aware of all the ways the government is “helping” us. I’m sure when the 16,000 new IRS agents are hired to enforce Obamacare provisions, they’ll be ever so helpful too.
I would like to make a suggestion to Rep. Woolsey and all of Congress. The best way for you to help us taxpayers is to throw out the huge tax code in use and legislate a simple system that will allow nearly every taxpayer to prepare their own tax returns in less than an hour. The simpler it is, the less chance of mistakes or oversights that could trigger an audit. Less audits would reduce the need for as many IRS agents, and so on. Do that, Congress, and you will have truly accomplished something worthwhile. Think you could get it done before you retire (in 2012?), Congresswoman Woolsey?
Oh, and while you’re at it: REPEAL OBAMACARE! Then there would be no need to pay another 16,000 IRS agents! [Yes, I know I’m talking to Lynn Woolsey, an inveterate supporter of government health care, but what the heck, maybe a miracle will happen and she will suddenly see the light and join those of us opposed to the new health care “reform” law.]
